On April 30, The Children's Theatre of Cincinnati (TCT), The Educational Theatre Foundation (ETF), in partnership with New York City-based iTheatrics and Music Theatre International (MTI), will present the 2019 JumpStart Theatre Showcase at the Taft Theatre in downtown Cincinnati.

A high school in New Jersey had taken the internet by storm with their stage production of Alien. Following the viral story, the film's original director, Ridley Scott, reached out and to offer to assist in funding an encore performance of the production. The school presented an encore performance last night, April 26, and they had a surprise guest in attendance! The star of the original movie, Sigourney Weaver, came to the show!

The Auditorium Theatre announces its 2019-20 Student Matinee Series, featuring three curated shows for students in grades K-12: a special presentation from National Geographic explorers and Grand Canyon hikers Pete McBride and Kevin Fedarko, an uplifting show by the musicians and vocalists from Too Hot to Handel: The Jazz-Gospel Messiah, and a riveting dance performance by Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater

This showcase performance event will be held at 7 pm on Sunday, May 12, at the Raymond F. The Educational Theatre Foundation (ETF) will honor Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman with the Broadway Back to School Award, which recognizes the impact of key leaders in the theatrical industry and education in building access and excellence in school theatre. Shaiman and Wittman were among the first creative leaders in the theatrical industry to recognize that the involvement of young students in musical theatre was essential for their success in school and life as well as for the progress and growth of the industry.
