The Circus Collective of San Diego fuses contemporary circus with a social consciousness in their new project that aims to raise awareness for displaced persons by telling their stories through movement and poetry. Archimedes’ principles of displacement, buoyancy, and specific gravity form a metaphorical framework to explore how people who are forced out of their homeland overcome obstacles, adapt, and negotiate their identity.
Raw emotion, physicality, live original music, and authentic storytelling weave a compelling piece that celebrates courage, resilience, and our shared humanity. The performance includes acrobatics, aerial rope, silks, and lyra, as well as cyr wheel and spoken word by refugee poets. An audience interactive talk balk following the show gives the audience opportunities to engage with artists, poets, and musicians.
Ages: Appropriate for all ages.
