Center Theatre Group has selected 12 local high school students to participate in the regional finals for the 2019 August Wilson Monologue Competition (AWMC) to be held at the Mark Taper Forum on Monday, March 11, 2019.

Every spring, Teatro Vista, Chicago's professional Latinx theater company, introduces Chicago-area high school students to classic and contemporary plays framed in a Latinx filter.

Music Theater Works is currently auditioning teens for the summer youth production of HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING. Rehearsals are June 13 through 28, at the Music Theater Works rehearsal center, 516 4th Street in Wilmette. The free public performance on Saturday, June 29, at 7:30 pm, is at Cahn Auditorium in Evanston.

Eight schools have been invited  to perform on the main stage at the nation's leading high school theatre festival. The invitations are based on productions that were adjudicated last fall; three more will be invited this spring. (Complete list of schools and shows to-date follows.)

Disney Theatrical Productions President & Producer Thomas Schumacher, Frozen songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez & Robert Lopez, Caissie Levy (Frozen on Broadway), legendary Broadway and West End producer (and Chairman of Music Theatre International) Sir Cameron Mackintosh, songwriting team Pasek & Paul, Taylor Iman Jones (Head Over Heels), Ryan McCarten (Heathers The Musical), Billy Jenkins ('The Crown,' 'Holmes & Watson'), Luca Padovan (School of Rock), and Isabella Russo (School of Rock) are some of the stars confirmed for the 2019 iTheatrics Junior Theater Festival Atlanta (#JTF), happening January 18-20, 2019 at The Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta.

The Education & Community Engagement Department at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall and the Van Wezel Foundation are thrilled to announce the Appleton Endowment Teacher of the Year Award, celebrating excellence in arts education and honoring individuals who have promoted and demonstrated their skills in the area of arts integration. Michael Dunaway's senior year at Nashville's Hume-Fogg Academic High School's has indeed been a busy one for the young song-and-dance man who this week opens in his school's staging of Disney's Newsies, one of the most-often produced shows of the 2018-19 season. Playing the musical's iconic leading man Jack Kelly, Dunaway leads off his final year as HFA's leading man with one of the most coveted roles in contemporary musical theater.

Extra, Extra, read all about it! Disney Newsies is coming to Marshwood High School! Based on the real-life Newsboys Strike of 1899, Newsies depicts the story of New York newsies, boys and girls who sold newspapers on the streets, who went up against two newspaper publishers, Joseph Pulitzer of the New York World and William Randolph Hearst of the New York Journal, to fight for their chance to earn a liveable wage.

Hillsboro High School's Tim Russell is deep into tech week with his castmates for their upcoming production of Bertolt Brecht's The Causasian Chalk Circle, which opens Thursday night, November 1, and is presented by The Hillsboro Players under the direction of Will Butler and Kristin Moon.

Grandview Heights High School Theatre Arts Program is proud to present Peter and the Starcatcher directed by April Olt, music directed by Lucas Fox. Peter and the Starcatchers, a play with music, is not only the prequel to Peter Pan, but it is also based on the book by Dave Berry and Ridley Pearson. Have you ever wanted to know how Caption Hook lost his hand? What is the backstory of Peter Pan? Tinkerbell? Wendy Darling? This anachronistic tale challenges traditional ideas of leaders, heroes, families, and home.  Complete with mermaids, pirates, lost boys and swashbuckling fun!

Very few actors can boast the resume, replete with some of the most iconic roles in musical theater, of Hume-Fogg Academic High School's Ava Locknar. Now a senior in Daron Bruce's and Lisa Forbis' renowned musical theatre program at the school, Ava's been at home on Broadway - albeit Nashville's Broadway - for four years, although it doesn't take much of a stretch of the imagination to envision her on the Great White Way, taking on more musical theater challenges.

The Highlander Theatre Company, the resident theatre company of Somerville High School, is thrilled to announce its 2018-2019 theatre season. This year's productions comprise the inaugural season of the new organization, established last year to expand theatre opportunities for students at Somerville High. The season will consist of four productions that reflect the creativity, talent, and diversity of the Somerville High School community.

The Emanon Players of Absegami High School will be presenting the musical comedy Little Shop of Horrors on Thursday, November 1st and Friday, November 2nd at 6:30 PM and on Saturday, November 3rd at 2:00 PM. Calling all high school aspiring singer-songwriters! Do you write lyrics and melodies in notebooks? Play an instrument and want to make your own music? You can learn how to successfully put those elements together with training from the new Singer-Songwriter Program at the Music Conservatory of Westchester in White Plains.

She NYC Arts, New York City's only festival devoted to producing full-length plays, musicals, and adaptations by female-identifying writers, is excited to launch CreateHER, a free 6-session workshop for female-identifying high school students interested in playwriting or producing.
