NEA Jazz Master, Two-time EMMY and Oscar Nominee, Seven-time GRAMMY® winning trumpeter & composer Terence Blanchard has established himself as the quintessential 21st Century Renaissance man. In celebration of his artistic achievements, Blanchard will reunite the extraordinary band that collaborated on his critically acclaimed album, FLOW, for a 20th anniversary tour in 2025. Twenty years ago, Blanchard assembled an exceptional lineup consisting of Brice Winston on saxophone, Lionel Loueke on guitar and vocals, Aaron Parks on piano, Derrick Hodge on bass, and Kendrick Scott on drums. This group entered the studio with the intention of delving into the fundamental question: What brings joy and purpose to people's lives? Both the question and the title of the album were inspired by the renowned psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, and his book Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience which explores creativity, peak performance, and genuine happiness. The resulting recording comprised eleven tracks, with each of the six members—Blanchard, Hodge, Loueke, Scott, Winston, and Parks—making compositional contributions. This remarkable project embarked on a successful tour with performances in South Africa, the United States, Canada, Europe, and Japan. The highly anticipated 2025 tour will center around the music from the original 2005 Blue Note recording and will feature several of the original members. Over the past two decades, each of these musician has made significant strides in their respective careers— each will bring their seasoned perspective, solidified artistic prowess and expanded creative horizons back to this seminal body of work.
