Ciswashing, misgendering, sensationalizing, whitewashing, and fetishizing! Join CastAndLoose as we investigate all the casting stereotypes and struggles facing the Trans and Gender Non-Conforming (TGNC) community in the industry.
Based on Lynne Marie Rosenberg's tumblr, Cast And Loose, CastAndLoose Live! features stars of stage and screen reading verbatim from Lynne's collection of offensive, real casting notices, as well as the world premiere of pieces written in response to these breakdowns, by writers from the TGNC community.
CastAndLoose will donate proceeds from the show to support the TransLab Reading Series, coming in December 2018. Trans Lab Theater is a fellowship program supporting emerging trans playwrights and directors, sponsored by The Public Theater and WP Theater.
Written and hosted by Lynne Marie Rosenberg (High Maintenance), co-produced with MJ Kaufman (Masculinity Max) and Kit Yan(Interstate), and directed by Jenn Haltman (Cannibal Galaxy). Featuring*:
Maybe Burke (The Trans Literacy Project)
Samy El-Noury (Transparent)
Brian Michael Smith (Queen Sugar)
Pooya Mohseni (Falling Water)
Aneesh Sheth (A Kid Like Jake)
