Seeking: Non-union performers who "can play" the specified ages.
JOHN TANNER- a music genius at age 18, very sympathetic, blind, surprisingly sneaky and witty, a fantastic piano improviser (a Jerry Lee Lewis-type) Range - C below middle C to high A [BARITONE with a high extension] ERIC BREWER- (15/16) a hyper-active Freshman in high school, strong Christian values, tons of unfocused energy, good intentions, has trouble keeping his mouth shut (a drummer, will not need to play drums in the reading) Range - C sharp below middle C and high A, [TENOR] JENNA WINTERS- (17/18) very intelligent, third in the class, genuinely nice, spunky (an advanced bassist, will not need to play bass in the reading) Range - G below middle C to high C sharp (on staff) [ALTO (must belt)] TODD MILLER- (18/19) a super Senior in high school, very rebellious, has a soft side, lead singer in a punk band, struggles with expressing himself (must be able to play guitar) Range - low A up to high B flat [BARITONE with a high extension, rock voice] SYDNEY- (17/18) first in the class, class president, Jenna’s arch-nemesis Range - A below middle C up to high F (on staff) [SORPANO, legit or belt] JEAN MARCY / MEREDITH TANNER- (mid-thirties) the “adult force of the show”. This part is John’s mother, a protective widow who is very nervous for her son to enter the adult world (due to his disability). The other side of the coin is Jean Marcy (the music teacher at Bedford high), very intelligent, tons of drive, and a dedication sharing music with ALL. Range - G below middle C up to high D (on staff) [ALTO (must belt)] PRINCIPAL - (mid-thirties/forties) non-singing, character role, preferably on the short side
