Local Season Auditions for Actors - and ‘Toto’ too - for Gretna Theatre
Mt. Gretna, PA – Equity and Open Auditions are announced for Gretna Theatre’s upcoming summer season led by Larry Frenock, Producing Artistic Director; Christian Saint-Girard, Resident Casting Director; Louis F. Goldberg, Resident Musical Director; and Renee T. Krizan, Associate Artistic Director. Seeking triple-threat actor/singer/dancers for all of the musicals listed, and especially excellent local character actors for both the play and musicals to portray ages 45 – 65+. Also seeking nine boys and nine girls ages 8 – 12 who must be excellent young actors, singers and dancers not to exceed 4’ 8” tall by this summer to play the Munchkins in “The Wizard of Oz.” All roles available (all children’s roles and many adult roles will be cast locally) for shows that include “My Way” (runs June 13 - 3, director/choreographer Dennis Courtney), “Watson” (runs June 27 - 30, director Jason Summers), “Kiss Me Kate” (runs July 11 – 21, director Dennis Courtney), “The
Wizard of Oz” (runs July 25 – August 3, director Sam Viverito, choreographer Judy Williams Henry) and “The Bikinis” (runs August 22-25, director/choreographer Jason Summers). Performances will be at the Mt. Gretna Playhouse, Mt. Gretna, PA. Please do not call or submit by email unless it is impossible for you to attend these auditions. Note that we cannot cast actors without an audition.
Equity Principal Auditions and Open Non-Union Auditions for Adults Only at the Mt. Gretna Fire Hall in Mt. Gretna, PA on Saturday, March 9, 2013 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Open Auditions for Local Adult Actors Only will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at the same location and times. Gretna Theatre is holding this second day of auditions on March 10 to be sure to see actors who have local housing and transportation. No children will be seen at either of these auditions. Young actors ages 17-21 interested in a performance internship must audition at one of these open calls. Separate sign-up list for audition time slots will begin at 9:00 am – unofficial lists will not be honored. Actors’ Equity Association members will be seen first and in order of arrival on March 9. Please do not call for appointments. Final callbacks for adult actors will be held as
needed on March 23 by appointment only.
Children’s Auditions will be held on Saturday, April 6 at the Mt. Gretna Fire Hall from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm with callbacks immediately afterward from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
Special Casting Notice for “Toto” in “The Wizard of Oz.” Prefer a well behaved dog similar to that which appeared in the 1939 classic film, ideally a dark gray or black Cairn Terrier or terrier mix. The dog’s owner will have to be available to bring the dog to and from all rehearsals and performances, but will not have to stay with the dog at all times. If you are a performer auditioning for our season and have such dog, please let us know. Rehearsals are from 9:30 – 5:30 Tuesday through Sunday beginning July 9 through July 21, with technical and dress rehearsals in the afternoon and evening of July 23 and 24.
