Wolf Trap Invites Youth Actors Ages 7-14 to Audition for Youth Ensemble
in The Classic Family Musical THE KING AND I
What:
The Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts will hold auditions for the Youth Ensemble in THE KING AND I. The audition is for boys and girls between the ages of 7-14 years old who are 5 feet tall or shorter. Interested participants should bring a filled out application, two head shots (8x10 are preferred) and a resume, with all contact information included. Each should be prepared to sing “Getting to Know You” and will be taught a dance. Musical accompaniment will be provided.
Call backs will be held the same evening. If asked to return, actors should wear comfortable clothing, and be prepared to dance and sing. They may also be asked to read lines from the show.
The time commitment for a Youth Ensemble role is tentatively set for August 29 – September 2, 2012. The rehearsal schedule is TBD, and performance dates are August 31- September 2. More information and the application can be found at

Why:
Youth actors will work with and learn from experienced musical theatre artists such as Director Baayork Lee, Choreographer Susan Kikuchi, and Children’s Musical Director Bill Newberry, while improving their skills in acting, singing and dancing. They will also have the unique opportunity to perform at one of the area’s leading performing arts venues, as part of one of the most celebrated musicals in history.
