Sheffield Theatres is searching for four boys to star as Nathan in the world première of a new play of The Full Monty which opens at the Lyceum Theatre in Sheffield from Saturday 2 – Saturday 23 February 2013, before embarking on a national tour.
This world première production has been adapted for the stage by Oscar-winning writer Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire), who wrote the screenplay for the Fox Searchlight Pictures Motion Picture. The production will feature songs from the film by Donna Summer, Rod Stewart, Hot Chocolate and Tom Jones and will rediscover the magic of the story of six Sheffield steelworkers with nothing left to lose. Directed by Sheffield Theatres’ Artistic DirectorDaniel Evans, who has been eager to bring the Sheffield based story back to the city since his appointment at the theatre, The Full Monty is set to be a highlight of the theatre calendar during 2013.
The role of Nathan is a fantastic opportunity for any boys interested in performing to be part of a professional production on a massive scale, getting the chance to work with professional actors, directors and industry professionals, as well as tour the UK with the production. Open auditions will take place in Sheffield on Saturday 29 September and Saturday 6 October. The first audition will take place between 9.30am – 5.45pm in the Rehearsal Room at the Lyceum Theatre where auditionees will undertake group acting workshops led by Theatre PractitionerSarah Clough and Assistant Director Jon Pashley. Artistic Director Daniel Evans said: ‘This is an amazing opportunity for those young actors wanting professional stage experience to work in one of the country’s most exciting theatre complexes, and travel with the production across the UK as part of a nationwide tour. We know from previous experience that there are some extraordinary young performers in Yorkshire and the surrounding counties and I’m thrilled that we are able to offer this opportunity to those actors.’
