AUDITIONS for ...
Spring Awakening

book & lyrics by Steven Sater
music by Duncan Sheik
based on the work by Frank Wedekind
directed by Erin Riley
musical direction by Michael Tan
July 7 - 30, 2017

Based on the German play Spring Awakening (1891) by Frank Wedekind, Spring Awakening tells the story of teenagers discovering the inner and outer tumult of teenage sexuality.
It’s 1891, and grown-ups hold all the cards.
Headstrong Melchior and naive Wendla stumble into each others’ arms, passionate and curious; while anxious Moritz struggles to live up to the stringent expectations of society. With only each other for guidance, this group travels the fraught and rocky path of adolescence, discovering their bodies, their minds, and themselves along the way. An electric, vibrant celebration of youth and rebellion, Spring Awakening fuses issues of morality, sexuality, and rock and roll into a story that packs a powerful emotional punch

Audition Dates:
Saturday 2/4 12-5pm,
Tuesday 2/7 7-10pm.
Auditions will be at the Audrey Herman Spotlighters Theater.

Production Dates:
July 7-30, 2017,

Auditions will be an open call. No appointments are necessary.
Please bring your calendar for scheduling conflicts starting in April 2017.
For the acting portion of your audition, prepare a contemporary comedic or dramatic monologue that lasts 90 seconds or less.

For the singing portion of your audition, prepare 32 measures of a ballad and an up-tempo song in the style of the show, but nothing from the show. Your selection does not have to be from a rock musical. You may be asked to sing one or both songs. Please bring the music, clearly legible with all staffs (94% reduction from a standard music book, if photocopy), and in your key. An accompanist will be provided.

There will be a short dance combination, so please come prepared to move.
