SCHOLA CANTORUM ON HUDSON 2012-13 SEASON - Schola Cantorum on Hudson

SCHOLA CANTORUM ON HUDSON HOLDING AUDITIONS FOR 2012-13 SEASON

Schola Cantorum on Hudson (SCH)--a 35-voice mixed choral ensemble with performing homes in both New York City and Montclair, New Jersey--announces that it is auditioning singers of all voice types, sizes, and ranges through September 6, 2012.

Requisites for auditioning include "previous choral experiences, music reading ability, and good intonation," says Deborah Simpkin King, SCH's artistic director and founder. "Our professional singers, emerging professionals and experienced avocational musicians mix well in Schola's rehearsal style," she comments. Soloists for all needs are drawn from within SCH membership.

King says that the ensemble sets itself apart by tapping singers who find "joy in exploring the 'soul content' of our music--how it relates to life, both in a daily, individual sense, and on a larger scale as fellow-travelers along life's journey." Beyond that, "We are are committed to providing audiences not only with a highest standard of performance, but also with a meaningful experience."

Founded in 1995, SCH will produce four concerts this season, with each concert produced twice--once in
Manhattan and once in
Montclair, NJ. Rehearsals are Mondays, 7:30--9:30 p.m., and are located four blocks from the Journal Square PATH station (
Jersey City), where there is also plentiful parking.

In addition to the full SCH ensemble, the organization has two internal performing entities: the Schola Repertory Singers and the Schola Sings Solo cast. To inquire about SCH and its ensembles or to schedule an audition, please visit
