STEPS OFF BROADWAY LOOKING FOR KIDS FOR NEW PERFORMING GROUP “Kids-A-Riffic”!
Bellingham, MA - Steps Off Broadway, Bellingham’s own performing arts center is announcing its new search for children 4-9yrs old for their new performing group, KIDS-A-RIFFIC!!
Artistic Director Keith Mottola, and his assistant, Arlena Boyle, realized there was a void in opportunities for younger children to be introduced to dance and the arts. The new program will offer dance in all areas of training including jazz, tap, and ballet. It will also offer an element many young people don’t have the opportunity to be a part of -- live musical performance. In addition, music styles of Broadway, Jazz, and Contemporary songs will be incorporated.
Mottola explains, “We, at Steps, just completed our first Summer Stock season and realized the younger ones didn’t have an outlet, so we put our heads together to create “Kids-A- Riffic!” The program will be geared to the younger ones who will be able to perform locally at public events and in musical reviews at the STEPS OFF BROADWAY 125 seat theater. Students in this program are fortunate to be able to work onstage as they learn. If you would like your child to be a part of the program, KIDS-A-RIFFIC auditions and interviews will be held at STEPS OFF BROADWAY on Friday, September 13th from 5-8pm. “The musical performances will help the younger ones gain confidence and self esteem, as well as dance and vocal training,” Mr. Mottola explains. “We are looking for all types of kids between the ages of 4 & 9 years old with little or none, as well as extensive experience in dance and performing.” Kids-A-Riffic will be a high energy, entertaining, experience-building performing group trained by professionals in the entertainment industry. Hollywood acting coach, Kristopher Kyer, (coach for ABC-TV shows) will be assisting in the audition process.
Performers chosen for this group will be required to attend a minimum of 1-hour dance class/week at Steps Off Broadway along with the 1-hour rehearsal time/week for the performing group. Participation fee will include the rehearsals, classes, performances, and exclusive Kids-a-Riffic performance-wear.
