FOOTLOOSE, The Musical

Based on the 1984 film Footloose.

Music by Tom Snow, lyrics by Dean Pitchford (additional lyrics by Kenny Loggins), and book by Dean Pitchford and Walter Bobbie.Additional Music by Eric Carmen, Sammy Hagar, Kenny Loggins, and Jim Steinman

This production will be Directed by Trevor Southworth,
with Choreography by Kim Ball

The Athens Theatre in DeLand will hold open auditions for FOOTLOOSE, The Musical on June 8 & 9 (Monday & Tuesday) at the Athens Theatre starting at 6pm each evening. An additional Call Back Date is Wednesday June 10. The Athens Theatre is located at 124 N. Florida Avenue in Downtown DeLand.


No appointments. Sign-ins are accepted starting at 6:00p.

Performances will be held on July 24, 25, 26*,30 ,3 1 Aug. 1, 2*,6, 7, 8, 9*, 13, 14, 15, and 16* at the Athens.
All shows start at 7:30p, for Sunday *Matinees at 2:30p.

NOTES/WHAT TO BRING:
  • Please prepare 16-32 bars of standard musical theatre song that showcases both range and acting ability. Bring sheet music in the appropriate key. No a capella auditions. An Accompanist will be available. Music from the show is permissible.
  • Typed Resume and Headshot (preferable).
  • Please bring character shoes and be prepared to dance.
OVERVIEW:

When four Texas teenagers die on their way home from a dance, the horrified town council and a patriarchal minister protect their community and avert future disasters by outlawing the clearly corrupting influence of uninhibited dancing to the demonic call of rock and roll.
It takes the minister's wild-reputationed, red-cowboy-booted daughter and a handsome, footloose Chicago outsider to save the town council's old fogeys and the benighted--but well-intentioned-minister from themselves, thereby freeing the teens, the entire town, and our audiences to immerse themselves in a whole lot of truly joyful noise.

Callbacks will be announced by Wednesday June 10th if needed.
