Phantom Limb Company is seeking diverse and multi-talented performers for a residency to explore the final piece in its decade long trilogy entitled Falling Out.
Completing a trilogy that includes 69S and Memory Rings, Falling Out centers on water, Japan and radiation through the lens of a break up.
The piece will utilize puppetry and Butoh dance. We will be working with Butoh master Dai Matsuoka of the legendary Butoh group, Sankai Juku.
The auditions and residency take place on Governor’s Island as a part of Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s (LMCC) space grant program.
Auditions will be held October 6-12 and will consist of a 3 HOUR group audition. Available sessions are as follows:
October 6: 10am-1pm and 2pm-5pm
October 7: 10am-1pm and 2pm-5pm
October 10: 2pm-5pm
October 11: 2pm-5pm
October 12: 10am-1pm and 2pm-5pm
Auditions will consist of warm ups, discussion and demonstration of any special/relevant skill sets (puppetry/butoh/magic/contortion/etc) followed by group and individual improvisation activities. You may also be given a phrase of existing choreography to learn.
If you are selected to continue with the residency, we will ask for your availability over the next two weeks for workshops and bring you in as much as is possible. Workshops will be in the same location on Governors Island, October 17th - October 28, Monday through Friday, 10am-5pm.
Fee for workshop days is $100/day. Auditions are unpaid.
Please send a pdf of headshot/resume and up to two relevant video samples of your work and/or special skills to bryan@octopustheatricals.com. We will be in touch should you be selected for an audition.
