EBBIE AND MOL AND THE APOCALYPSE SONG - Cabrini Theater

Ebbie and Mol and the Apocalypse Song
By Hannah Bisewski (As a second-year Columbia graduate student with a playwriting concentration)
Directed by Sammi Cannold
Production Stage Manager: Leanna Keyes

Seeking 5 actors for a full-length play at the Thespis Festival (NYC) in August. Rehearsals will be in the evenings and on weekend afternoons from mid-July to mid-August. Timing is flexible to accommodate work schedules. This is an unpaid experience, but all actors will be eligible to win Festival cash prizes.

Synopsis: In the not-so-distant future, Ebbie, a recent widow, arrives at the doorstep of her sister-in-law’s bed-and-breakfast in the French Alps. Instantly, they are bound to each other for the rest of their lives as they are the last two specimens of the human race.

Character Breakdown:

Eli: About 30 years old and slowly dying by the side of his wife. He’s a cerebral, professional type, that is prone to stoicism but also may be prone to internal inconsistencies.

Ebbie: (Two actresses—one to play in her mid-20s, one to play in her 50s) We first encounter her as an adult in her prime. She was born, raised, and married in this same small Parisian suburb, and thus a somewhat stolid, though emotionally rich, character. Aging in the uncertain circumstances as she did, she evolves into a person both bitter and weak.

Mol: (Two actresses—one to play in her mid-20s, one to play in her 50s) Mol is physically small and energetic. Her desultory youth matured into a world-weary ambivalence that generally works in her favor as of the apocalyptic circumstances.

Performance Dates: August 19th, 23rd and 25th
