Saturday, June 1, 2013, Lyric Opera of Chicago is auditioning highly trained classical dancers with strong theatre experience for its upcoming production of the operetta DieFledermaus by Johann Strauss, Jr. This production will be directed by E. Loren Meeker with choreography by Danny Pelzig. August Tye is ballet mistress.
Die Fledermaus requires four solo female dancers (plus one cover) and four solo male dancers (plus one cover). Rehearsals will begin November 18, 2013, with performances running from December 10, 2013 through January 18, 2014 (with a performance break December 22 – January 4).
Men should bring character shoes and jazz shoes. Women should bring dance heels and jazz shoes. Please make sure to wear simple dance clothes that show the dance line.

Sunday, June 2, 2013, Lyric Opera of Chicago is auditioning male and female dancers with contemporary and classical training, strong partnering skills, and acting experience for its upcoming production of Verdi’s La traviata. This production will be directed by Arin Arbus with choreography by Austin McCormick. August Tye is ballet mistress.
La traviata requires four solo dancers (plus one cover). Rehearsals will begin October 21, 2013, and performances will run from November 20 through December 20, 2013.
Men should wear character or jazz shoes. Women should wear dance heels. Please wear simple, form fitting dance attire for this audition.
Please note that if you are offered and accept a contract for Parsifal (April 28 audition), scheduling precludes you from accepting a contract for La traviata.

Both auditions will be held at the Civic Opera House, 20 N. Wacker Drive, Chicago.
All applicants must use the stage-door entrance at Washington St. and Wacker Dr. All applicants must check in and register for the audition before the audition class. A résumé and headshot are required to register.
