CORTLAND REPERTORY THEATRE ANNOUNCES

LOCAL AUDITIONS FOR 43rd SUMMER SEASON

Cortland Repertory Theatre is announcing their local auditions for the upcoming 43rd annual summer season in 2014. Auditions will be held on Saturday, January 25 from 10:00 - 5:00 at Homer Junior High School, 53 Clinton Avenue in Homer, NY. Productions include:

· “Boeing Boeing”: a farcical comedy;

· “All Shook Up”: a rock and roll 1950’s musical featuring the music of Elvis Presley;

· “Les Misérables”: a contemporary pop-opera musical;

· “Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Jersey Lily”: a mystery;

· “Making God Laugh”: a family comedy;

· “Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash”: a musical revue.

Those individuals interested in attending these auditions may call
607-753-6161 to sign up for an appointment.
These will be the onlylocal auditions CRT will hold this year. Paid internships available for college students. If cast, actors must also be available for daytime and some evening rehearsals. Season dates run from May 19 - Sept 13. Rehearsal and performance dates vary depending on show.

· Primarily seeking non-union actors. All roles in all shows open. Seeking a variety of types and ages, all nationalities. Cortland Repertory Theatre is an equal opportunity employer.

· Please bring a current, non-returnable photo and resume, with phone number and email address.

· For the plays: Please prepare one 1 - 2 minute monologue. British dialect required for “Sherlock Holmes”. Three female characters in “Boeing Boeing” will need either French, German or Italian accents.

· For the musicals: Please bring your own sheet music. Pianist will be provided. Prepare 16 measures of an uptempo and ballad in an appropriate style of the shows. Be prepared to sing more if asked.

· We are specifically seeking male and female actors/singers who are skilled musicians for “All Shook Up” and “Ring of Fire”; electric and acoustic guitar, electric and upright bass, fiddle, banjo and percussion. To be considered for these roles, you must be at an advanced, soloist level.

· Auditionees may be asked to read from provided scripts, and may be asked to attend a dance callback for “All Shook Up”.

· Youth Auditions: CRT is also seeking two local girls, age 8 – 12, who act and sing well for the roles of Young Cossette and Young Eponine, and one local boy, age 11 - 14, who acts and sings well for the role of Gavroche in “Les Misérables”. These are the only roles for youth under 18 years of age that we have available in this year's season. No dance is required for these roles. For the Youth Auditions only: No monologue is necessary. Youth should prepare only one song - girls should prepare a ballad (in the style of Castle on a Cloud from Les Mis), boys should prepare an uptempo (in the style of Gavroche's song from Les Mis). They may sing the actual song from the show if they like, and must provide their own sheet music, clearly marked with the section of the song they know. Do to time limits, we may not hear the entire song. Also, youth candidates may be asked to read a short monologue (which we will provide) with a British accent. Youth actors must be available for the entire rehearsal process: June 19 - July 9; and the entire run of the show - July 9 - 26.

· Due to the number of audition locations, we rarely arrange private auditions.
