Following up the success of their debut original work, "Violent Delights: A Shakespearean Brawl-esque Sideshow," at the 2013 Capital Fringe Festival, Off the Quill will be using their unique brand of physical theater to present this modern classic.
Helen Hanff, a struggling New York writer, finds more than the rare editions she seeks when she contacts Marks & Co., a small London bookshop. A graceful transatlantic dance of correspondence ensues, spanning four decades and abundant with literature, culture and affection.
(The action of the play is set in the New York apartment of Helene Hanff and in Marks & Co., Booksellers, 84 Charing Cross Road, London. The action spans the years 1949-1971)

Characters:
Helene Hanff (F, late 20's - mid 50's) - Semi-successful, well-read author living in NYC. Outspoken, but prefers books to people.
*Frank Doel (M, early 30's - mid 50's) -Soft-spoken, intelligent manager of a London bookshop.
*Cecily Wells (F, 20's early 30's) – London bookshop employee. Kind, strong and knowledgeable.
Maxine Farr (F, 20's - 40's) - Candid, unreserved American actress.
*George Martin, William Humphries, Megan Wells, Joan Todd, Matthew (Various ages) - Bookshop employees. Some dialogue, with a great deal of choreographed movement and stage time. Characters fade in and out of participation in the foreground action, highlighting the progress of the plot.
