With this play's events kicking off on the morning of the local county fair, we discover that Johnny 'Rooster' Byron is both the most and least popular man in town. The local authorities want to evict him, his son wants to spend the day with him, the town thug wants to teach him a lesson, and his ragtag group of friends want to party with him and get their hands on his "party supplies". Our cast of 14 brings you the NZ premiere of this Tony Award nominated play, described by The Telegraph as the greatest British play of the century. In Jerusalem, playwright Jez Butterworth spins his own darkly comic, modern take on the classic English idyll. Directed by Kristof Haines, Johnny’s stand against the hypocrisy of modern suburban life is shocking, moving, and a wonder to watch unfold. Please note that evening performances of Jerusalem will start at 7:30pm. Containing adult themes and strong language, this play isn't for the impressionable or those with delicate ears, but you're heartily invited to see us bring to life the grimy but colourful fringes of this modern English village.
