The Interpreter is a powerful drama centered on the Nuremberg Trials, focusing on the complex relationship between a Nazi leader, Hermann Göring, and his Jewish interpreter, a young U.S. Army private. Written by Joseph Vitale, the play draws inspiration from the experiences of Richard Sonnenfeldt, one of the last surviving interpreters at the trials. Following select performances, scholars Dr. Joseph Huddleston, Dr. Rachel Slutsky, and Dr. Angela West will facilitate discussions, aiming to engage audiences in critical conversations about rising antisemitism and the human experience during times of political strife. The production will run at The Theater Project from August 15 to 25.
