This Tony nominated dramedy, masterfully written by Stephen Adly Guirgis, tells the story of Jackie (Johnny Manibusan), a reckless man fresh out of prison, new in recovery and on his way to a new way of living. He is both desperate and excited to turn his life around and has begun working the 12 Steps of Alcholics Anonymous with his sponsor, Ralph (Dondre Tuck). After coming home to his childhood sweetheart and actively drug using girlfriend Veronica (Jessica Michael Davis), with the good news that he just got a job, Jackie finds another man's hat in their apartment...and shit goes down! The other two colorful characters in this play are Ralph's not so happily married wife Victoria (Navene Shata) who is also a member of AA and Jackie's cousin Julio (Bobby Leo Garcia), a flamboyant yet no nonsense, Jean Claude Van Damme idolizing, loyal cousin. It's a show that's both aggressive yet sesnsite, universal without being boring and characters written so specific yet relatable. Come see how a hat f*cks up a realtionship, a certain individual's sobriety and if these 5 New Yorkers will be able to bounce back from the hilarious yet heartwrenching chaos that ensues.
