In their most ambitious project yet, Electric Company Theatre is producing not one, but two Shakespeare plays under the stars: Twenty-two actors will play seventy-nine roles in Romeo and Juliet and Shakespeare in Love. Audiences will be able to enjoy picnics and drinks in The Muck outdoor amphitheater while watching the same company of actors perform both plays on alternating nights. ECTs Romeo and Juliet will be reimagined as a feud between agricultural families in California during the Great Depression: Woody Guthrie inspired live folk music, composed by cast member Wesley Chavez, will underscore this tragic tale of young love. Both shows will be directed by ECT Artistic Co-Founder and Co-Director Brian Johnson with choreography by Nathalie Agredano Wutkee. Tickets and more information are available at electriccompanytheatre.org.
