A 60-minute opera in English with English subtitles that look in on a series of three "Zoom" calls by six healthcare workers around the world who share stories as they deal with the pandemic unfolding in their unique geographical regions. Ultimately a story of friendship. Story is drawn from 200 articles about global healthcare workers facing the COVID-19 pandemic. With Gwendolyn Brown, contralto, Emanuel-Cristian Caraman, tenor, Russell Hoke, baritone, Jeong Eun Joo, soprano Carl Ratner, baritone, David Shenton, piano Christine Steyer, soprano.SHOWS: Saturday, April 17 at 7 PM (CDT) and Sunday, April 18 at 2:30 PM (CDT) both shows followed by Artist Meet-and-Greet. 20% of revenue from the artist meet and greet will benefit the Greater Chicago Food Depository. On Call provided a meaningful project for opera singers who have been hard-pressed to find work during the pandemic. Each singer safety recorded their parts at home and the segments were then assembled to create the look of a live Zoom meeting.
