Beginning in the 1950s, the U.S. government went into a moral panic over the homosexual menace" a stunning straw man erected in the era of McCarthyism, when queers and Communists were considered a subversive threat seducing unsuspecting Americans into a life of moral decadence. This panic was known as "The Lavender Scare." But in an era of Pete Buttigiegs, gay Bachelors and Pride-themed FBI logos, perhaps the straights have become too comfortable. It's time for a new homosexual menace to terrorize the moral center of our country. The Lavender Scare is an irreverent exploration of LGBTQIA history, much of which has been summarily douched from the annals of history, hosted by Gabe Gonzlez.
