Mahler’s first symphony is a monumental musical journey that unfolds with grandeur and traverses the depths of human emotion and experience. From moments of profound introspection to exuberant bursts of energy, Mahler’s symphony will captivate you with its dynamic range and emotional intensity. During the first half of the performance, Maestro Eric Garcia and the Boise Phil will guide you through essential passages of the symphony with a discussion and musical excerpts, offering insights into the historical and musical context of the piece. This will be followed by the full performance of the work. It will surely be an immersive and unforgettable experience celebrating Mahler’s first symphonic masterpiece. Join Musicologist Bradley Berg and Music Director Eric Garcia (and special guests) as they guide you through the music you are about to hear, providing an enlightening look at the repertoire and composers before the performance begins.
