A unique co-production of the Tony Award-winning musical A Strange Loop will take the stage in Summer 2025, crafted by Deaf Austin Theatre and Visionaries of the Creative Arts. Directed by Alexandria Wailes, this production will showcase a blend of Deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing artists performing in both American Sign Language and spoken/sung English. The story follows Usher, a Black queer artist struggling with his identity while writing a musical about his own experiences, capturing profound themes of self-perception and artistic challenge. With a commitment to elevating Black Deaf representation in musical theatre, this groundbreaking collaboration promises to resonate with a wide audience.
